Where I Lay My Baby Down
It’s cold under the earth
It’s cold down in the ground
Where I lay my baby down
It’s sweet here in the sun
After the rain has come and gone
But it’s cold here round my heart
Where I lay my baby down
Where I lay my baby down
Young grasses wave in the breeze
Wild violets scent the air
Ain't nothing he’ll ever see
But earth that's dark and bare
It's empty 'neath the sky
And here your sweet head lies
Yes it's empty round my heart
Where I lay my baby down
Where I lay my baby down
My baby down

The Journey
I dreamed of fog and endless night
There was no shadow and no light
Below we moved as in a trance
Afraid that we could miss our chance
But above the mist the sun shone
Upon the mountain snow
And if only we could reach it
Then our hearts would overflow
But we don't where this journey's going to end
No we don't know where this journey ever ends....
I dreamed that I was cut adrift
In a place where sand and water shift
The murky waters knew no bounds
As they strove to bring my vessel down
Suddenly I landed upon a wooded shore
And the branches only hinted at the joys they held in store
And we don't where this journey's going to end
No we don't know where this journey ever ends.
I dreamed that I had lost my way
In a labyrinth of endless gray
I had to circle in the dark
And on the way to shield my heart
And through thousands of false doorways I found my way back home
I wanted you to join me but I found I was alone
And I don't where this journey's going to end
No I don't know where my journey ever ends.
