The Darkest Day
I’ve been looking in from the outside
Watching people live their lives from right here
Spending too much time on the dark side
Will the light not come to stay?
I’m betting it all on tomorrow
Cause this moment now is not the one
To help lead me out of the darkest day
I’ve had more than enough of the sorrow
But I can’t see any way ahead
So I’ll be stumbling here if that’s okay
And with a prayer and a song I’m on my way
Feels like I’m swimming in raging waters
With a mighty current dragging me down
Will I let myself be caught or
Will I pull myself to shore?
I’m betting it all on tomorrow
Cause this moment now is not the one
To help lead me out of the darkest day
I’ve had more than enough of the sorrow
But I can’t see any way ahead
So I’ll be stumbling here if that’s okay
And with a prayer and a song I’m on my way
If I had something here to guide me
Then I think I’d make it alright
I wouldn’t need all the answers
Just give me a compass in the dark of the night
I’m betting it all on tomorrow
Cause this moment now is not the one
To help lead me out of the darkest day
I’ve had more than enough of the sorrow
But I can’t see any way ahead
So I’ll be crashing here if that’s okay
And with a prayer and a song, a prayer and a song,
Please give me a song to light my way
Beneath the Rubble
The earth shook and moved, there was trouble
And our hearts were buried deep beneath the rubble
Beneath the rubble
The crews searched in vain for the survivors
Among the ruins nothing dead, nothing alive, no
They could find none
The sparrow flew far from her own nest to seek the
treasure she could call her very own, she did not find it
Still she scours the corners of the sky never giving up
her labors until she dies
So they went back to identify the fault lines
And they thought probably she had lost her mind
She lost her mind
The people shook their heads and tried to save her
They could not understand her behavior
We must save her
The sparrow flew far from her own nest to seek the
treasure she could call her very own, she did not find it
Still she scours the corners of the sky never giving up
her labors until she dies
The earth shook and moved, there was trouble
And our hearts were buried deep beneath the rubble
Beneath the rubble, beneath the rubble
Stubborn Land
There’s been a lot of rain coming down
But the earth it falls on is dry
I’ve seen a lot of tears fall to the ground
Most of them are mine
I walked a winding path to get here today
The dark clouds gathered in the sky
How did I get to this place so forlorn
Is this where my destiny lies?
My heart is a stubborn land
Grows as it will, gets what it can
Guided by an unseen hand
My heart is a stubborn land
Stung by all of these bitter regrets
They shadow me as I go
There were so many things I didn’t get right
And others I didn’t know
Still I’ve come to this place that I chose
Though I don’t know quite how
And I will make it a place that I love
There’s no turning back now
My heart is a stubborn land
Grows as it will, gets what it can
Guided by an unseen hand
My heart is a stubborn land
So I’ll be following the way
That my heart told me to go
Will you walk along this stony road with me?
And we’ll seek the verdant gardens
That are waiting for us somewhere
If we can only see
My heart is a stubborn land
Grows as it will, gets what it can
Guided by an unseen hand
My heart is a stubborn land
